This work employs material “imperfections”; the deliberate preservation of dust on negatives, as a core methodology to subvert normative perceptions of purity. The title’s semantic challenge confronts what society labels “dirty,” a judgment often projected onto the erotic, the marginal, or the non-conforming.
Through this practice, the project engages with class, gender, and postcolonial perspectives, mapping an evolving critical gaze from Brazil to Western Europe.
